Split Fiction Review: Couch Co-Op Done Right
My wife and I have been diving into Split Fiction, the latest from Hazelight Studios, and we’re absolutely loving it. As big fans of It Takes Two, we had high hopes—and this game delivers.
Hazelight has once again crafted a co-op experience that feels genuinely designed for two players, rather than tacking on a multiplayer mode as an afterthought. The puzzles, platforming, and storytelling all encourage teamwork in a way that makes every session fun and engaging.
What We Love
✔ Fantastic Co-Op Gameplay – The mechanics require real cooperation, not just two people playing side by side.
✔ Strong Storytelling – Just like It Takes Two, the narrative is compelling and keeps us invested.
✔ Creative Level Design – Every new area introduces unique gameplay elements that make things feel fresh.
My Biggest Takeaway
I really hope the gaming industry takes note of Hazelight’s success with Split Fiction and It Takes Two. Quality couch co-op games are too rare, and this proves that there's still a massive demand for them. More studios should invest in games that bring people together on the same screen rather than just online multiplayer.
If you enjoy co-op experiences with great storytelling and engaging gameplay, Split Fiction is a must-play. Here’s hoping this isn’t the last time we see a game of this caliber in the couch co-op genre.
⭐ Rating: 9.5/10 – A fantastic co-op adventure that sets the bar high!
